Evaluation
What it is
YunoHost is a self-hosting platform built for non-technical users. It wraps app installation, user management, DNS, SSL, and a built-in SSO portal into a single admin interface. Apps are installed from a curated catalogue with one click — no Docker knowledge required.
Why it could be useful
The lowest barrier to entry for self-hosting. YunoHost handles the full stack — OS configuration, reverse proxy, SSL, user accounts — and exposes it through a simple web UI. Built-in SSO means users log in once and access all apps. Good option for organisations where technical capacity is limited.
Why not to go for it
Less flexible than Coolify. Apps must be in the YunoHost catalogue and packaged for it — running arbitrary Docker Compose setups is not the primary use case. The platform is opinionated about how apps are configured, which can make customisation harder. Best suited to standard app deployments rather than custom workloads.
