Pros​

  • Fully FOSS, MPL-2.0, no feature limits
  • Candidate for replacing Canva and Figma
  • Vector-based design tool, runs in the browser

Cons​

  • No admin panel in self-hosted — all users are equal, no role management
  • No user management UI — registration must be disabled via flags after initial setup
  • PENPOT_PUBLIC_URI must be manually set or email links contain the internal port
  • Need hands-on experience before committing

Verdict​

Promising Figma/Canva alternative. Needs real-world testing before recommending to clients like BPW.
